West Bay Beach:- Just down the road you will find West Bay beach which is very close and easy to get to. It tends to not have many tourists at it so can be a good spot for a quieter beach.
Cemetery Beach:- You may have noticed as you came into West Bay that there were cars parked at the side of the road by the cemetery. This is because behind the cemetery is one of the nicest beaches on the island. Located on West Bay Road opposite the fire station you will find a path that runs to the right of the cemetery all the way to the beach. The beach has some trees offering shade and is beautiful. There is also some snorkeling here especially if you swim out a fair way (look for the dark areas of water).
Governor’s Beach:- As you drive towards George Town along West Bay Road you will come to the Governor’s house - it is about ½ a mile from the big public beach. There is parking to the right of the house and this part of Seven Mile Beach is less crowded than further down as there are no hotels.
Smith’s Cove:- If you have rented a car head out to Smith’s Cove. This can be found along South Sound Road and is a beautiful beach surrounded by a picturesque cove. A wonderful place to spend a few hours soaking up the sun and enjoying the scenery.
Spotts Beach:- A wonderful place to watch the sunrise (it is about 45 minutes from the house). Follow the coast road all the way out past Prospect and you get to Spotts Beach. (It is just next to Spotts Cemetery). This beach offers a very shallow area with lots of grass on the bottom. The area is protected by a barrier reef so is very calm and is a great place to see turtles feeding on the grass. – Well worth taking a mask and snorkel to!
